Effect of quercetin as therapeutic and protective agent in Aluminum Chloride-induced Alzheimer's disease rats

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative clinically characterized by progressive cognitive impairment. This work aimed to investigate the role of quercetin (Q) in treatment and protection AlCl3-induced AD rats through exploring molecular mechanisms underlying its neuroprotective therapeutic properties. In this study, male Wistar were allocated two experiments: experiment I (therapeutic effect quercetin) which divided into: normal control group (C-Saline) was induced with saline for 56 days, C-Q50 group, administered orally Q (50 mg/kg) 28 days after induction (AlCl3-Saline) received AlCl3 intraperitoneally followed AlCl3-Q50 days. II (NC) Q50 mg/ kg) + co-administrated successive Dopamine (DA) acetylcholinesterase) AChE (levels estimated all rat groups. The results showed that post-treatment AD-induced as well co-administration AlCl3with Q50, significantly reduced level serum, increased DA level, body weight change compared AlCl3group, but did not show any significant brain weight. We concluded improved cholinergic dopaminergic dysfunctions lowering Acetylcholine esterase restoring dopamine
